6th Bentley Global Business Ethics Symposium

“What is Sustainability? Differing Perspectives on Sustainable Business Practice in the Global Context.” Sponsored by the State Street Foundation, the symposium series brings together an international group of experts from academia, government and the corporate world for in-depth discussions of challenges and current practices, this year focused on challenges in sustainability. A number of interactive panels will include: (1) Defining Sustainability; (2) The Business of Peace: The Global Challenge; (3) Strategies for Sustainable Global Business Practice ; (4) Critical Challenges in Sustainability; (5) Building Sustainable Organizations, Institutions and Societies; and (6) Managing the Sustainable Enterprise: Trends, Challenges and Next Steps. The morning keynote speaker will be Tracy Atkinson, Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, State Street; the luncheon speaker (via satellite) is Hazel Henderson, founder of Ethical Markets Media, LLC.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
AABS, in partnership with the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and Centre for Responsible Leadership, and with funding from the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), will be hosting a business school’s workshop at GIBS.
The half day workshop will focus on how business schools are responding and should respond to the challenge posed by the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI). The programme will include case study presentations by business schools engaged in responsible management education, as well as provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing between African business schools.

We are including two business school case study presentations on the programme to stimulate debate and thinking on how to incorporate responsible management into the curriculum. If your business school is actively incorporating sustainability, ethics, responsible leadership and other related topics into its curriculum and operations, we invite you to present your case study at the workshop.
