The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver uses a three front approach to prepare MBA and MS Management and MS marketing students to manage social, ethical, and environmental issues inherent in mainstream business including: (1) Core courses that are value based; (2) specialized electives in ethics, and corporate resonsibility, negotiation and conflict management, and international corporate governance; and (3) a specialization in Managing for Sustainability.
Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
In AY 2007-2008, the Business School
*created a specialization in Managing for Sustainability for the MBA and MS Management degrees.
*designed 7 graduate and 1 undergraduate courses addressing different areas/aspects of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
*offered 5 graduate and 1 undergraduate sustainability courses
*established a community advisory board consisting of 8 business leaders
In AY 2008-2009 We plan to
*expand the community advisory board to 20 members
*offer 7 graduate courses and 1 undergraduate courses.
*sponsor a full day seminar to the business community
*develop and offer several workshops/seminars to the business community
*host guest speakers in business core classes to share their best practices in implementing sustainable management practices.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Faculty members are conducting research on global health and writing 12 case studies of mid-sized firms that have successfully implemented stustainable management practices. We plan to compile these case studies and publish them in a book.
