Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
For the past 6 six years, Rhodes Investec Business School has had a strong emphasis on environmental management and more recently has broadened
its focus to concentrate on 'Leadership for Sustainability', which is the essence of our teaching, executive courses and research.
Within the MBA programme the theme of sustainability is infused into all course modules as well as addressed in greater detail within the core course "Principles of Sustainability"
Our vision is: 'We aim to be the business school of choice for those aspirant leaders and managers who are committed to applying sustainable business practices'
Examples in our Teaching and Learning:
Our MBA programme is mainstreamed around corporate responsibility and
sustainability as demonstrated by the following core modules, Year 1
'Principles of Sustainability', and Year 3 'The Ethical Organization'
We also offer the following electives, Environmental Law, Tools for
Sustainability, Environmental Economics and Climate Change.
Examples in our Executive Courses:
One of the offerings within our executive short course suite, which is available to corporate clients is 'Principles of Sustainability'. Several short courses are also offered in the area of Environmental Management, including Industial Enviromental Management and Environmental Management Systems.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Several MBA dissertations are in the area of environmental management, environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Climate Research: The Business School is a partner in a climate adaptation unit at Rhodes University, which is working in conjunction with a number of Southern African Universities and the University of Florida in the USA.
The School has participated in and delivered papers at international conferences that focus on the theme of Sustainability, including those arranged by the Institute for Sustainable Leadership
