Inaugural UN Global Compact Business for Peace Annual Event

Building off a strong first year of growth, the UN Global Compact's Business for Peace (B4P) is organising its Annual Event, together with PRME, the Global Compact Network Turkey, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and the UN Development Programme, to convene companies, Local Networks, academics and other stakeholders leading the business for peace movement. The two-day meeting will enable Local Networks to raise the profile of their work, while engaging with other leaders within the Business for Peace community to share best and emerging practices and review lessons learned.

The second day will hold an exploratory session identifying the challenges and opportunities for academic and private sector collaboration as pertains to the positive contributions business can make to peace. Emphasis will be given to creating a community for future partnerships in three areas:(1) educating future leaders on how to advance business for peace, (2) local and regional research themes where business can make special contributions to peace, and (3) identifying 2015 priorities & projects for the PRME B4P workstream.

For more information about how to participate, please contact Mr. Jeffrey French (french@unglobalcompact.org). For more information on involvement in the PRME Business for Peace Workstream, please contact Ms. Theresa Heithaus (heithaus@unglobalcompact.org).
