The XXth oikos conference: “Core or Elective? Social Responsibility in Higher Educationâ€

University of St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland With the XXth oikos Conference in St. Gallen, the international student organization oikos is returning to its roots and mis¬sion, which is to strengthen action competence for sustainable development amongst tomorrow’s deci¬sion makers. During this two-day event, the issue of how the principle of sustainabil¬ity and social responsibility can be integrated into university education, both substantially and conceptually will be discussed. Firstly, the relevance of the principle of sustainability for university education will be highlighted by renowned speakers and innovative ways of integrating sustainability into higher education will be presented by other universities. Secondly, real-world challenges of how to integrate sustainability into university life will be brought forward by staff and professors of the University of St. Gallen. At the end, a first part of a blueprint of how these issues can be integrated at business schools, will be created.
